The Delta State Sports Commission has terminated the appointment of Samaila Samaila Marwa (Keshi) as Head Coach of Delta Queens Football Club with immediate effect.
In a letter dated January 15, 2026, and signed on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the Commission, the decision was conveyed to the embattled coach at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
According to the Commission, the termination followed allegations of gross misconduct, unprofessional behaviour and unproductive work ethics said to be inimical to the progress and growth of Delta Queens Football Club in the ongoing 2026/2027 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The letter accused the former coach of persistent bullying of players and officials, despite repeated admonitions by the Executive Chairman and the management of the Commission. He was also alleged to have brought the office of the General Manager into public disrepute and repeatedly flouted directives of constituted authorities by threatening to resign whenever cautioned.
The Commission further cited the coach’s conduct during Delta Queens’ away match against Ahudiyannen Queens of Umuahia on January 14, 2026, alleging that his actions led to the raising of a false alarm against the opposing team, a situation it said could have placed the state club at loggerheads with the management of the Nigeria Women Football League.
Following the termination, Marwa has been directed to immediately hand over all properties of the club in his possession to the General Manager.
The Commission wished the former coach success in his future endeavours.
