Warri—For nearly four months, the Emordi family has been living through what can only be described as a nightmare. What began as an ordinary day in the kitchen has spiralled into a prolonged medical battle that has drained the family’s finances, exhausted every available source of support and left a husband making a heartfelt appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians for help.
Speaking with journalists in Warri, an emotionally distraught Mr. Patrick Emordi pleaded with the Federal and Delta State Governments, corporate organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), religious bodies, philanthropists and compassionate members of the public to help save the life of his wife, Mrs. Eunice Emordi, whose prolonged hospitalisation has left the family overwhelmed by mounting medical bills.
Mr. Emordi recalled that the family’s ordeal began on March 23, 2026, when his wife suddenly slipped and fell while preparing a meal at home. She was immediately rushed to Glorious Clinic, Bendel Estate, opposite the NEPA Office, before doctors referred her to Duke Memorial Hospital, Warri, where specialists diagnosed her with a partial stroke alongside other serious brain-related complications requiring intensive and prolonged medical care.
According to him, the journey has been physically, emotionally and financially devastating. Determined to keep hope alive, he exhausted his personal savings and relied on generous support from family members, friends and well-wishers to pay over two million, two hundred and ninety-seven thousand, three hundred and thirty-three naira for his wife’s treatment.
Despite those sacrifices, the burden has become unbearable. He disclosed that the family is now confronted with an outstanding hospital bill of four million, two hundred and forty-five thousand, six hundred and ninety naira, a figure that continues to rise daily as the cost of hospital admission, medication and specialised medical care accumulates.
Fighting back tears, Mr. Emordi said every passing day without financial intervention pushes his family deeper into debt and further away from the possibility of taking his wife home.
“I have done everything within my power. Friends and relatives have stood by us, but we have reached the point where we can no longer continue alone. I am humbly appealing to government at all levels, charitable organisations, corporate bodies and every compassionate Nigerian to come to our rescue. My greatest desire is to see my wife recover and return home to her family,” he said.
He noted that beyond the financial burden lies the emotional pain of watching a loved one remain on a hospital bed while medical bills continue to mount, stressing that timely assistance could make the difference between renewed hope and prolonged suffering.
Mr. Emordi expressed profound appreciation to everyone who has supported the family since the unfortunate incident but appealed for further assistance to enable the settlement of the outstanding hospital bills and ensure that his wife continues to receive the medical attention she urgently requires.
