Warri is set to take centre stage in Delta State football as the Delta State Football Association (DFA) formally signs a landmark full sponsorship agreement with Arthur Ferdinand Limited on Monday, March 30th, 2026.
The high-profile ceremony is widely seen as a turning point for the state’s oldest football competition, with stakeholders anticipating a new era defined by enhanced organization, improved rewards, and greater fan engagement.
Speaking ahead of the event, Director-General of Sports,Arthur Ferdinand Limited,
Mr. Victor Odairi, revealed that the sponsor is committing to a comprehensive sponsorship package designed to deliver what he described as “the best Federation Cup Delta State has ever witnessed.”
According to him, the sponsorship goes beyond financial input, with a range of incentives lined up for clubs, players, and supporters. Among the standout benefits is the provision of branded jerseys for the four finalist teams, alongside other value-adding initiatives aimed at elevating the competition’s profile.
Odairi who is also Uvwie football council chairman, further hailed the sponsor, Chief Idama Amurun, CEO of Arthur Ferdinand Limited, as “a gentleman with genuine passion for youth development,” noting his consistent drive to initiate programmes that positively impact young people across the state.
On his part, Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Hon. Godwin Adode, assured that the FA will match the sponsor’s commitment with top-level organization and professionalism.
He stressed that with the backing of the Delta State Government through the Sports Commission, coupled with the sponsor’s intervention, clubs participating in this year’s Federation Cup are in for a rewarding and memorable experience.
“We will exhaust all genuine efforts to ensure this year’s Federation Cup sets a new benchmark for football in Delta State.”
Emphasizing that the collaboration between government and private sponsorship will significantly boost the competition.
He disclosed that following the Warri signing ceremony, attention will immediately shift to Asaba, where the draws for the 2026 Federation Cup will hold on Tuesday 31st March 2026.
Club chairmen and administrators have been directed to converge at the Football House, Asaba, by 11 a.m. for the ceremony.
A total of 22 teams have registered for this year’s tournament, comprising 20 male teams and two female teams, promising a highly competitive outing.
Defending champions Warri Wolves FC will aim to retain their crown in the men’s category, while Delta Queens FC remain the team to beat in the women’s event.
With strong institutional backing and renewed corporate investment, the 2026 DFA Federation Cup is already shaping up to be a defining chapter in Delta State’s football story.
