The Delta State Football Association has expressed profound grief over the passing of the President of the Nigeria Football Referees Association, Alhaji Sani Zubairu, who reportedly died on Tuesday morning.
Chairman of the Delta FA, Hon. Godwin Adode, described the late Zubairu as a disciplined and highly respected football administrator whose impact on Nigerian football officiating will not be forgotten.
“Alhaji Zubairu was a consummate professional who brought discipline and structure into football officiating in Nigeria through his exceptional leadership,” Adode said.
“He played a pivotal role in improving the quality of refereeing and restoring confidence in match officiating across the country. He also ensured that referees earned the respect they deserved while mentoring a generation of officials nationwide.
“His death is a painful loss to the Nigerian football family. We will deeply miss his dedication, professionalism, and integrity, as he consistently upheld the highest standards of the game.”
The Delta FA chairman extended heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the Nigeria Football Referees Association, the Bauchi State Football Association, the Bauchi Referees Council, the Nigeria Football Federation, and the entire football community.
“We pray that God grants his soul eternal rest and gives his family, friends, and the entire football fraternity the strength to bear this great loss,” he added.
