The Chairman of the Ofugara Give Back Initiative and Ofugara Peace and Unity Football Tournament as well as the sponsor of the Orodje of Okpe Football Tournament, Engr. Silva Ofugara, has been honoured with a prestigious award by Okpe Union Worldwide in recognition of his immense contributions to youth empowerment, community development and humanitarian service across the Okpe Kingdom.
The honour was bestowed on Engr. Ofugara during the 96th Annual Okpe Union Day Celebration held amidst pomp, cultural displays and the gathering of distinguished sons and daughters of the Okpe Kingdom.
Presenting the award, the President-General of Okpe Union Worldwide, Hon. Godwin Atose, alongside the Chairman of the Occasion, Dr. Austin Arieja, described Engr. Ofugara as an exceptional philanthropist, visionary community builder and passionate advocate of grassroots transformation whose impact has continued to resonate across the Okpe nation.
They noted that through his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, sports development and humanitarian outreach, Engr. Ofugara has consistently created opportunities for young people, inspired hope among the less privileged and contributed significantly to promoting peace, unity and social inclusion within the kingdom.
According to them, his investment in sports, particularly through the sponsorship of the Orodje of Okpe Football Tournament, has not only fostered talent discovery and youth engagement, but has also become a strong platform for community integration, peace building and the promotion of healthy competition among youths.
The Okpe Union leadership further commended his numerous community-based interventions and selfless contributions towards the advancement of the Okpe Kingdom, describing him as one of the emerging pillars of development whose passion for humanity continues to uplift lives and strengthen communal harmony.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, an elated Engr. Ofugara expressed profound appreciation to Okpe Union Worldwide for finding him worthy of the prestigious recognition.
He said the honour would further strengthen his determination to continue serving humanity and contributing meaningfully to societal growth, youth development and the progress of the Okpe Kingdom.
Engr. Ofugara also used the occasion to call on all sons and daughters of the Okpe Kingdom, both at home and in the diaspora, to return home and invest in the development of their communities, stressing that there is no place better than home.
According to him, collective commitment and contributions from all Okpe sons and daughters remain vital to the continuous growth and transformation of the kingdom.
He also commended the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, describing him as a worthy Okpe son whom the people are proud of, owing to the massive transformation and developmental strides his administration is recording across the state.
Engr. Ofugara praised the governor’s leadership style and commitment to infrastructural and human capital development, noting that the achievements of the administration have continued to place Delta State on a progressive path.
He dedicated the award to God, his supporters and members of the various humanitarian and sports development platforms he has been associated with over the years.
The colourful event attracted traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders and dignitaries from different parts of the country.
