NNEWI – The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has announced plans to stage a novelty match in honour of the late Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah as part of activities commemorating his enduring contributions to football development in Nigeria.
The event, scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, Nnewi, will be organised under the leadership of the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi.
According to the association, the novelty match forms part of the build-up to the Ifeanyi Ubah Remembrance Match and is aimed at celebrating the legacy of the former senator, whose investment and commitment significantly impacted football development in Anambra State and across the country.
The match is expected to feature football administrators, coaches, former players and other distinguished personalities, who will come together to honour the late football benefactor in an atmosphere of unity, friendship and remembrance.
The event is being powered by Chief Ken Maduakor, whose support, the organisers said, reflects a continued commitment to promoting football development and preserving the legacy of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., with football fans, stakeholders and members of the public expected to attend the event in large numbers to celebrate the life and contributions of one of Nigeria’s foremost football patrons.
