ASABA — The Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, has assured Super Eagles Captain, Wilfred Ndidi, of the unwavering support of the nation’s football family following the demise of his father, late Mr. Sunday Ndidi.
Delivering the federation’s message during a condolence visit in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Dr. Sanusi described the loss of a father as a profound and painful experience, particularly when it occurs unexpectedly.
“The pain of losing a loved one, especially a father, is immeasurable and often comes as a heavy shock. We want you to know that you are not alone in this grief.
The entire nation and the Nigeria Football Federation stand solidly behind you and your family at this difficult time.”
Sanusi, who led the NFF delegation on behalf of the President and Executive Board, prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and urged the Super Eagles skipper to take solace in the outpouring of support from Nigerians across the globe.
The delegation included the NFF Director of Media, Dr. Ademola Olajire; NFF Board Member, Rt. Hon. Nse Essien; Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Hon. Godwin Adode; Member representing Aniocha/Oshimili on the DFA Board, Mr. Azuka Chiemeka; and Mr. Solomon Iwerebor, Member representing Ika North East on the DFA Board.
In his response, Ndidi expressed gratitude to the NFF President and Board members for their solidarity and moral support since the unfortunate incident. He noted that the visit had strengthened his family during a deeply trying period.
Late Mr. Sunday Ndidi, a retired military personnel, died a fortnight ago in a tragic hit-and-run accident along the Umunede highway in Delta State.
He will be laid to rest on Friday, February 13, at his country home in the Umu Okwuehi family compound, Ile-Nobu Quarters, Umunede, Delta State.
