Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of Mr. Emasogbe Matthew Oghene as the new Auditor-General of the state.
Oghene is expected to be sworn into office on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
Also on the same day and at the same venue, the governor will inaugurate the governing councils of three state-owned universities earlier announced by the state government.
The universities and their governing councils are the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), and Southern Delta University (SDU).
For the University of Delta, Agbor, the council will be chaired by Prof. Victor Peretomode as Pro-Chancellor, with Rear Admiral Peter I. Eluma, Prof. Ebele Egwunyega, Dr. Roland Oritsejafor, Mrs. Joy Enwa, Prof. Ben Oghojafor and Prof. Patrick Oromareghake as members.
The Dennis Osadebay University Governing Council will be chaired by Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, with Dr. Christopher Onyemenam, Chief Elmina V. Namah, Prof. Jacob Oboreh, Dr. Mrs. Josephine Konyeme, Dr. Mrs. Philomena Imonivewerha and Prof. Rowell Ubogu as members.
For Southern Delta University, Chief Godson Echegile will serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, alongside Prof. Benedict Binebai, Sur. Mrs. Felicia Omatsola, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, Dr. Tosan Luck Popo, Prof. William Ehwarieme and Prof. Mrs. Regina Arisi as members.
The development is part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen governance and institutional administration across its higher education sector.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the appointees and invited guests are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m. ahead of the 10 a.m. commencement of the ceremony.
