Former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he would soon unveil his new political platform.
In a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Sunday Areh, Omo-Agege said his decision followed recent developments within the APC in Delta State and extensive consultations with his associates and supporters.
The former lawmaker stated that his political ambitions and the interests of his constituents could no longer be effectively pursued within the ruling party.
“I will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,” Omo-Agege declared.
The resignation, which took effect from May 22, 2026, was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Omo-Agege, who served as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, appreciated the APC for the opportunity to serve under its platform, while requesting that his name be removed from all party membership records and communication channels.
He maintained that his focus remains on delivering effective representation and development for Delta Central, Delta State and the nation, stressing that he would continue pursuing those goals outside the APC.
