Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has unveiled a $100 million (about ₦133 billion) Viability Gap Fund to stimulate investments and position the state as a preferred destination for local and foreign investors.
The governor announced the fund on Monday at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, stating that the initiative is aimed at reducing the financial risks associated with new investments and ensuring that investment commitments translate into viable projects with measurable economic impact.
He said the fund reflects his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment capable of attracting investors, boosting industrialisation, creating jobs and driving sustainable economic growth across the state.
Oborevwori also assured prospective investors of the state’s financial stability, noting that despite ongoing investments in road infrastructure and other capital projects, his administration has not borrowed from commercial banks. He attributed the state’s financial strength to prudent fiscal management, transparency and accountability.
The governor identified agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing, renewable energy, logistics and the blue economy as key sectors with enormous investment potential, urging investors to take advantage of the opportunities available in Delta State.
He further highlighted incentives introduced by his administration to encourage investment, including tax and levy waivers for qualified businesses, improved security architecture and the establishment of the Ease of Doing Business Council to simplify investment processes.
According to him, the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit was conceived to connect investors with viable business opportunities, attract fresh capital, promote industrial expansion and create sustainable employment in line with the objectives of his administration’s MORE Agenda.
Oborevwori expressed confidence that partnerships and agreements reached during the summit would translate into tangible investments that would accelerate economic development and improve the living standards of the people of Delta State.
