Oborevwori Mourns Ex-Deputy Governor Benjamin Elue, Consoles Family in Obior

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid glowing tribute to late former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Benjamin Elue, describing him as a humble, peace-loving statesman whose life of service and integrity left a lasting imprint on Delta State.
Governor Oborevwori spoke with deep emotion during a condolence visit to the Elue family’s country home in Obior, Aniocha North Local Government Area, following the passing of the elder statesman on Saturday at the age of 85.
Addressing the widow, Lady Esther Elue, and other members of the family, the governor said the death of the former deputy governor came as a rude shock, noting that Elue had recently expressed willingness to attend an official engagement before his demise.
He recalled that the state had been looking forward to his continued guidance and presence, adding that his passing was both sudden and painful.
The governor extolled the virtues of the late statesman, stressing that Chief Elue served Delta State with honour, dedication and uncommon integrity, and lived a life defined by impact rather than material accumulation.
According to him, the late deputy governor was widely respected for his humility, simplicity and peaceful disposition, relating freely with his people without erecting barriers of status or power.
Governor Oborevwori assured the family of the continued support of the Delta State Government, describing the loss as not only a personal tragedy for the Elues, but a collective grief for Aniocha North and the entire state.
He noted that although the pain of the loss was profound, the state was consoled by the fact that the elder statesman lived a fulfilled and peaceful life dedicated to service.
While signing the condolence register, the governor wrote that Chief Elue served Delta State with honour and integrity, adding that his legacy would remain indelible.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Paul Oseji expressed heartfelt appreciation to Governor Oborevwori, the Delta State Government and all sympathisers for their show of love, support and solidarity during the moment of grief.
