Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has praised mothers across Nigeria and around the world for their resilience, courage and sacrifices in shaping families and society.
In a message to mark the 2026 Mother’s Day celebration, the First Lady described mothers as the quiet builders of the nation’s future and the heartbeat of every home.
She said mothers deserve recognition for their unwavering love and the countless sacrifices they make daily for their families.
“Today, I honour and celebrate every mother across Nigeria. Your love, care and sacrifices do not go unnoticed,” she said.
According to her, the true essence of motherhood is reflected not only in major sacrifices but also in the small and quiet moments that define a mother’s devotion.
“To all mothers who nurture, love and shape our families, you are the heroes of our nation,” she added.
Mrs. Tinubu also encouraged mothers to continue guiding their children with wisdom and strong values that will positively influence future generations.
She prayed that mothers would live long to enjoy the fruits of their labour through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mother’s Day is observed globally to honour mothers, motherhood and the strong bond between mothers and their children. The celebration is marked on different dates around the world, most commonly in March or May.
