NPFL Final-Day Thriller: Oborevwori, Wolves Management Declare ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ In Relegation Battle

With the curtain set to fall on the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season this weekend, confidence is soaring in the camp of Warri Wolves as the club prepares for a make-or-break relegation showdown against Abia Warriors in Ozoro.
The Seasiders, who have endured a turbulent campaign filled with twists, pressure and survival drama, know that only a convincing result in Sunday’s Matchday 38 encounter can guarantee their stay in the elite division.
Despite the fixture being ordered behind closed doors by the league management, Delta State Sports Commission Chairman, Onoriode Oborevwori, believes Warri Wolves possess the fighting spirit, tactical discipline and mental strength required to beat the drop.
Oborevwori stated that the players and technical crew fully understand the enormity of the battle ahead, stressing that the team must approach the clash like a cup final.

The Sports Commission boss also commended the resilience of the players throughout the season, urging them to display courage, composure and attacking intent when they file out against Abia Warriors.
Also throwing his weight behind the team, Chairman of Warri Wolves, Neville Ambakederemo, assured supporters and football followers across Delta State that the club would not succumb to relegation.
Ambakederemo declared that the management, coaching crew and players are united in their determination to keep the famous Warri side in the NPFL and restore the club’s pride among Nigeria’s football elite.
According to him, the team remains motivated to reciprocate the unwavering support, encouragement and investment provided by the Delta State Government through the Delta Sports Commission.

He added that the management has continued to rally the players psychologically and strategically ahead of the decisive encounter, expressing confidence that the team will produce a performance worthy of its badge and loyal supporters.
