The Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA), Prince Godwin Ejinyere, has disclosed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is set to give Delta Broadcasting Service Warri a facelift to enable the station serve the public more effectively.
Ejinyere made the disclosure on Wednesday when he received members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), DBS Warri Chapel, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in the DDPA Housing Complex, Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The NUJ delegation was led by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade John Glover.
Speaking during the visit, the WUEDA Director General described the media as a vital partner in governance, noting that journalists play a key role in keeping the public informed about government activities.
He commended Delta Broadcasting Service Warri for its consistent coverage of government programmes and projects, particularly the activities of WUEDA across Warri, Uvwie and surrounding communities.
According to him, the agency has undertaken several interventions within its mandate areas, including the construction of storm water drainage channels to address flooding in the oil city, construction of new roads, rehabilitation of failed ones, as well as urban renewal and environmental beautification projects.
Ejinyere assured the visiting journalists of his continued support and cooperation with the union, urging the station to see WUEDA as a partner in progress.
He added that the state government, under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, was committed to improving the facilities at Delta Broadcasting Service Warri to enable it perform its public service role optimally.
Earlier, Chairman of the NUJ DBS Warri Chapel, Comrade John Glover, commended the developmental strides recorded by WUEDA under the leadership of Ejinyere.
Glover described the agency’s projects as impactful, noting that they had contributed significantly to improving infrastructure and the living conditions of residents in Warri, Uvwie and neighbouring communities.
He explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening the cordial relationship between the union and the agency to enhance cooperation.
The NUJ chairman, however, appealed to WUEDA to assist the station with critical infrastructure, particularly the installation of street lights within the premises of Delta Broadcasting Service Warri to improve security.
