Guwor, Okowa Applaud Ndoshimili Youths for Renewed Political Engagement

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has urged young people to take an active role in politics as a means of promoting good governance and accelerating development in their communities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Guwor made the call during the inauguration of the national and local government executives of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth (NPY) at Ashaka in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Speaker, who also chairs the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, described the formation of the group as a positive step toward strengthening youth participation in grassroots politics.
According to him, the enthusiasm displayed by the youths shows that they are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the political development of their communities and the nation at large.
“Youths must not remain spectators in the political process. Your energy, creativity and commitment are essential to strengthening democracy and advancing development in our communities,” he said.
Guwor congratulated the newly inaugurated executives and urged them to remain committed to the ideals of unity, discipline and service. He advised them to work collectively to deepen grassroots political participation as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.
The Speaker also encouraged the group to respect party leadership at all levels and ensure that their activities promote peaceful political engagement.
He was accompanied at the event by the Leader of the House, Emeka Nwaobi; the member representing Ika North East Constituency, Marilyn Okowa-Daramola; and the member representing Ndokwa East Constituency, Emeka Osamuta. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting programmes aimed at youth empowerment.
In his remarks, former Delta State Governor and Special Guest of Honour, Ifeanyi Okowa, commended the impressive turnout of young people at the event, describing it as a clear indication of their readiness to shape the political future of the Ndokwa area.
Okowa noted that the Ndoshimili people played a significant role in his political journey and urged the youths to continue supporting the government while working together for the development of their communities.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National Leader of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth, Osamuta, explained that the group was established as a socio-political platform to promote unity and strengthen youth leadership across the Ndokwa nation.
He emphasized that the initiative was not created for personal ambition but to foster unity, encourage transparency and provide a strong voice for Ndoshimili youths in political and developmental matters.
Osamuta further urged members to use the platform to support sons and daughters of the Ndokwa nation occupying leadership positions and to build partnerships that would accelerate development across Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani local government areas.
Other dignitaries at the event included the member representing Ndokwa/Ukwani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Nnamdi Ezechi; Chairman of Ndokwa East Local Government Council, Vincent Osilonya; Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Festus Ochonogor; and political leader in Ndokwa East, Godswill Obielum.
In their goodwill messages, they commended the youths for reviving political awareness in the area and urged them to remain committed to unity, peace and support for the present administration.
The event featured the formal inauguration of the national and local government executives of the Ndoshimili Progressive Youth, alongside the presentation of a commemorative souvenir to Chief Obielum in recognition of his contributions to the political growth and unity of the Ndoshimili people.
