Oborevwori Hails City Boy Movement, Pledges Support For Youth Mobilisation

Delta state Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday commended members of the City Boy Movement for their passion, organisation and dedication to youth mobilisation, urging them to remain steadfast in promoting purposeful leadership and national development.
The governor gave the commendation while receiving the leadership of the movement, led by its National Director-General, Francis Shoga, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Asaba.
Oborevwori applauded the movement for its growing influence across Delta State and beyond, noting that its activities and campaigns had continued to gain visibility on various platforms nationwide. He described the initiative as a vibrant youth-driven force contributing significantly to political consciousness and civic participation among young Nigerians.
“I must commend the passionate commitment you have shown since the inception of the City Boy Movement. I have followed your activities across different platforms and seen the impact you are making across the state and the country,” the governor stated.
He also praised the group for its unwavering support for Bola Tinubu, whom he described as a committed democrat, while encouraging members to sustain efforts at organising and mobilising young people towards constructive participation in governance and nation-building.
Speaking on the increasing involvement of youths in governance, Oborevwori noted that even young people within his own family had embraced the ideals of the movement, reflecting a growing confidence among Nigerian youths in leadership and ongoing reforms.
According to him, youths remain critical stakeholders in shaping policies and governance, stressing that they are not merely the leaders of tomorrow but active contributors to present-day development.
“Your ideas, energy and sense of purpose are crucial in building inclusive and progressive policies. You have demonstrated remarkable strength in mobilisation and advocacy, and we are ready to collaborate with you,” he added.
The governor further commended both the national and state patrons of the movement for their dedication, noting that mobilising young people in today’s political environment requires commitment, resilience and strategic engagement. He urged members not to be distracted by criticism or attempts to undermine their efforts.
Oborevwori expressed confidence that the movement would play a vital role in galvanising youth support for the All Progressives Congress and its candidates ahead of future elections.
Earlier, Shoga said the visit symbolised more than a routine engagement, describing it as a strong declaration of unity, purpose and determination by Nigerian youths to actively shape the future of the country.
He commended the governor for his leadership style and developmental strides in Delta State, particularly in the areas of youth empowerment and improved livelihoods.
Shoga described the City Boy Movement as a structured youth-oriented platform focused on empowering young people, nurturing leadership capacity and encouraging active participation in governance.
“The future of Nigeria belongs to its youths. This movement is founded on the belief that young people should not remain spectators but active participants in shaping the destiny of the nation,” he said.
He disclosed that the movement had witnessed rapid expansion, with operational structures in more than 30 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, as well as a presence in over 100 countries worldwide.
According to him, the group remains committed to mobilising millions of young voters in support of President Tinubu and the APC, while promoting unity, discipline and purposeful engagement among Nigerian youths.
The visit climaxed with the formal inauguration of the Delta State chapter of the City Boy Movement, marking another milestone in the organisation’s nationwide expansion drive.
