Côte d’Ivoire Sack Head Coach Emerse Faé, Renard Emerges as Possible Successor

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) has announced the termination of its relationship with national team head coach, Emerse Faé.
Faé, who guided the Elephants to a remarkable triumph at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) hosted by Côte d’Ivoire in 2024, leaves the position after a successful spell in charge of the senior national team.
Under his leadership, Côte d’Ivoire achieved continental glory and later featured at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, where the team advanced to the round of 32 before suffering elimination by Norway.
Despite his achievements, the FIF decided to part ways with the former international midfielder as the federation begins the search for a new direction for the team.
Reports indicate that French coach Hervé Renard is among the leading candidates being considered as Faé’s replacement. Renard, a two-time AFCON-winning coach with Zambia and Côte d’Ivoire, is regarded as one of Africa’s most experienced national team tacticians.
The Elephants are expected to announce a new coach as preparations continue for upcoming international competitions.
