Teen Prodigy Shines in Luxembourg as NSC Boss Applauds Rising Table Tennis Star

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Bukola Olopade, has lauded 10-year-old table tennis sensation Junior Aruna following his impressive medal haul at the World Table Tennis Youth Tournament.
The young talent, son of Nigerian table tennis icon Aruna Quadri, delivered a standout performance at the global event, clinching a silver medal in the Under-11 category and a bronze in the Under-13 division.
Olopade described the youngster’s achievement as a reflection of his father’s enduring legacy in the sport, noting that the NSC takes pride in the accomplishments of the Quadri family.
“Having an exciting young talent like Junior Quadri is a major boost for Nigerian sports, particularly the future of table tennis,” Olopade stated. “I must commend Aruna Quadri and his wife, Qaniat, for the remarkable work they are doing in nurturing their children.”
He further acknowledged the pivotal role played by Qaniat Quadri, a former player, who currently serves as the personal coach to the young prodigy and his sibling, guiding them towards international recognition.
The NSC boss assured the family of continued institutional support, emphasizing the Commission’s commitment to helping young athletes realise their full potential.
Olopade added that with emerging talents like Junior Quadri and others across various sports, Nigeria’s sporting future remains promising with strong prospects for global podium finishes.
