The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has joined numerous well-wishers in felicitating the Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, on the occasion of his birthday anniversary.
In a goodwill message on behalf of the SWAN National President and the entire National Executive Council, the SWAN Vice President, South-South, Mr. Azuka Chiemeka, described Aniagwu as an articulate, knowledgeable, accessible and exceptionally media-friendly public servant whose contributions to public communication and governance in Delta State remain commendable.
Chiemeka said Aniagwu had, over the years, demonstrated a clear understanding of the strategic importance of the media in governance, particularly through his willingness to engage journalists, explain government policies and programmes, and provide timely clarification on issues of public interest.
He commended the Commissioner for maintaining a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with journalists and media practitioners, noting that his accessibility and openness to constructive engagement had continued to foster better understanding between government and the media.
According to him, Aniagwu’s ability to communicate government policies effectively, while creating room for questions, dialogue and accountability, has made him a valuable partner to the media community in Delta State.
The SWAN leadership particularly acknowledged the Commissioner’s support for sports journalism and his recognition of the important role sports writers play in promoting sports development, athletes, teams and sporting activities across the state.
