The Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar has announced that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal was not sighted across Nigeria, confirming Friday, March 20, 2026, as Eid-el-Fitr.
The declaration was conveyed in a statement issued by the Sultanate Council’s Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in collaboration with the National Moon Sighting Committee, and signed by Sambo Wali Junaidu.
With the development, Muslims nationwide will mark Eid-el-Fitr on Friday, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Sultan extended his greetings to the Muslim Ummah, urging continued prayers for peace, unity, and progress in the country, while wishing adherents a joyful celebration.
