The Delta State Football Association (DFA) has concluded arrangements for the successful hosting of the CAF D Coaching Course in Asaba, with the Chairman of the association, Hon. Godwin Adode, calling on participants to take full advantage of the programme to enhance their coaching knowledge and contribute meaningfully to football development.
Speaking ahead of the commencement of the course, Adode described the training programme as a significant step towards strengthening grassroots football and improving coaching standards across Delta State.
According to him, the CAF D Coaching Course is designed to equip coaches with modern football coaching techniques and methodologies in line with the standards of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), thereby empowering them to positively impact player development at the grassroots level.
“We are fully prepared for the CAF D Coaching Course in Asaba and we expect all participants to approach the programme with seriousness, commitment and a willingness to learn. This is a unique opportunity for coaches to improve their knowledge and acquire the skills required to develop the next generation of football talents.”
The DFA Chairman emphasized that quality coaching remains the foundation of football growth and development, noting that the knowledge and experience gained during the course would help participants become better coaches and mentors in their respective communities, clubs and academies.
He urged participants to remain disciplined throughout the duration of the training and actively engage in both the theoretical and practical sessions.
“The future of our football depends largely on the quality of coaches we produce today. I therefore encourage all participants to make good use of this programme and ensure that the lessons learnt are translated into practical results in their various coaching assignments.”
Hon. Adode also expressed profound appreciation to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for approving and supporting the programme as part of its broader commitment to football development and coaches’ education across the country.
He equally thanked the Delta State Government for its continued support for sports development and its unwavering commitment to the advancement of football in the state.
The DFA Chairman reserved special commendation for the Chief Executive Officer of FPG Technology and Solutions Ltd, Engr. Rex Ugochukwu Mafiana, whose sponsorship and partnership made the hosting of the course possible.

The Delta State Football Association reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders, corporate partners and football governing bodies in developing competent coaches who will drive the growth and development of football across the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The CAF D Coaching Course is scheduled to hold from Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026, in Asaba, the Delta State capital. The five-day intensive training programme is expected to attract coaches from different parts of Delta State and beyond, providing them with a platform to acquire essential coaching knowledge, improve their technical competence and contribute meaningfully to grassroots football development.
