The Delta Football Association (DFA) will on Monday commence its one-week CAF D Licence Coaching Course at the Football House Asaba, with some of Nigeria’s foremost football instructors leading the programme.
The coaching course, organised by the DFA in collaboration with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), is aimed at equipping grassroots coaches with modern coaching techniques and the knowledge required to develop young football talents in line with CAF standards.
A total of 40 participants, drawn from the 25 Local Football Councils across Delta State, will take part in the intensive coaching programme, underscoring the DFA’s commitment to ensuring that all parts of the state benefit from improved coaching standards and football development initiatives.
Former Super Eagles midfielder and CAF Technical Instructor, Edema Fuludu, will lead the team of facilitators alongside NFF Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen, who will bring his vast experience as a former Super Eagles coach and international defender to the week-long programme.
The course, which runs from June 29 to July 5, will feature a blend of classroom lectures and practical field sessions covering the Laws of the Game, safeguarding, coaching methodology, player development and practical demonstrations. Participants will undergo 60 hours of intensive training, with each day comprising theory and practical sessions.
The opening day will begin with an orientation and familiarisation session, providing an opportunity for the visiting facilitators and participating coaches to interact, outline the objectives of the course and set expectations before proceeding to lectures on the Laws of the Game and safeguarding, followed by practical coaching sessions on the pitch.
The programme is being fully bankrolled by FPG Technology and Solutions Ltd, whose sponsorship reflects the company’s commitment to grassroots football development and capacity building in Delta State. Through its partnership with the Delta Football Association, the company is investing in the education, certification and professional growth of grassroots coaches.
The initiative is expected to significantly enhance the participants’ knowledge of modern coaching principles, tactical awareness, player development techniques and football management, enabling them to return to their respective Local Football Councils better equipped to identify, nurture and develop young talents in line with CAF and NFF coaching standards.
The Delta Football Association described the programme as another milestone in its drive to raise coaching standards and expressed appreciation to FPG Technology and Solutions Ltd for partnering with the association to build the capacity of grassroots coaches and contribute meaningfully to the long-term growth of football in Delta State.
Successful participants will earn the CAF D Licence Certificate, the entry-level qualification in the Confederation of African Football’s coaching education pathway.
