The Delta State Hospitals Management Board has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for re-election in 2027.
The Chairman of the Board, Dr Paul Oredena Oweh, announced the endorsement alongside other board members at the Olorogun Felix Ibru Secretariat, citing the need for continuity in governance and the sustenance of ongoing reforms.
Dr Oweh commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration for its investments in the health sector, noting that improvements in hospital infrastructure, medical equipment and personnel were enhancing healthcare delivery across the state.
He disclosed that the Board oversees 65 hospitals serving urban, rural and riverine communities, with 25 facilities equipped with 4D ultrasound scan machines.
The chairman also listed the provision of CT scan, MRI, C-arm X-ray and dialysis machines at Central Hospital, Warri, among the administration’s achievements. He said subsidised dialysis treatment was available at 45-thousand naira, while improvements had also been recorded in laboratory services, neonatal care, operating theatres and intensive-care facilities.
Dr Oweh further highlighted ongoing and completed hospital projects in Orerokpe, Ekpan and Ibusa, as well as the government’s takeover of an abandoned community health facility at Tsekelewo.
On manpower development, he disclosed that 711 personnel had been employed across the Board’s facilities, while training and retraining programmes continued for medical professionals, including more than 60 resident doctors undergoing specialist training.
The Board also commended the state government’s health insurance and Equity Programme, which provides eligible beneficiaries with access to maternal healthcare, including deliveries and Caesarean sections, at no cost. Children under five also benefit from free treatment in government-managed hospitals.
The Board members called on Deltans and Nigerians to support President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori in the 2027 elections, expressing optimism that continued investment in healthcare would further improve access to quality medical services across Delta State.
